Actually, I wonder if Blizzard reads any blogs.
I have to assume they do, I mean we are normal people with normal lives whose only investment is that we like to play the game.
I would expect at at least some of the hundreds, or is it thousands of Blizzard employees read more than the company policy manuals.
I wonder how I would react, and how long it would take me to recover if Ghost Crawler made a blue post on my blog.
I wonder if I would recover at all if his blue post was:
Long time reader, 1st time poster. Just had to say I love the blog.
Rock on little Gnome!
I wonder how many of my readers are GMs on their lunch break. How many of them are lurkers. How many are commenters? Is Prelimar GC on vacation?
If, assuming if, some one from Blizzard does read blogs, do you think they laugh out loud?
Do you think they spit coffee when reading about Jong’s latest adventures?
Do you think they forward links about the office?
Do you think they cried out loud when BRK announced his retirement, knowing that now they won’t have his guidance?
I wonder sometimes, I’m not fussed one way or the other, but I wonder whether if one of my RSS feed subscribers is Ghostcrawler, and whether I’ve encouraged him to roll a Gnome.
Gnomer and Out!

Ghostcrawler has admitted to reading blogs in the past, including Graylo’s blog: http://graymatterwow.blogspot.com/
I haven’t seen anyone else state any specific blogs they read, but I like to think they read a lot, especially the community managers.
I dare say they tend to stay undercover.. can’t have apparent official blizzard commentary.. whether it’s official or not.
sorry to rain on your speculation, but i’m definitely *not* GC, or a blue poster, or even employed by blizzard. i’m just a regular ol’ fan of what you do. : )
i DO know that they read the community blogs. i’m certain it’s well documented… somewhere. not sure which blogs, but since you are one of the high-profile mage blogs, certainly you MUST get read as a sampling of the mage community… right?
Damn…
Damn…
Damn…
Cool… you don’t need to be Blue to be appreciated!
Sad that I am a high profile Mage blog… luckily the others have more than wish and bitch lists, like actual class discussion…
Still if they are looking for a Tiger Butterfly face painting example…they have come to the right place
i submit to you, good green-haired sir, that the devs probably see *plenty* of sites with “wish & bitch” lists, and that perhaps it’s refreshing to them to read a site where it’s clear that the player is just enjoying the game and having FUN. i think that, perhaps, a site like yours gives them greater insight into what they are doing wrong or right than all the more technical-based forums in the world. (…of warcraft)
Maybe… but then they wouldn’t be able to claim Armageddon’s Coming on their tax return…
Gnomes are working as intended. Carry on, mage.
I can’t believe it took 3 replies for someone to pretend to be GC… mmmm
You are pretending aren’t you Kriz?
Don’t tell me you are GC pretending to be Kriz!
oh, damn, i should have thought of doing that!
I think they would need to have ‘their fingers on the pulse’ of their customers, and they probably have one of those Twitter searches too going for key phrases.
They probably find out about most of the exploits through non official means too – Big brother is watching, and reading, and “making a list checking it twice – gonna find out who’s naughty and nice ” ( ok so its the wrong season.. )
Most companies have media people who moniter the media for anything about their product/ web is just another form of media,
“making a list checking it twice – gonna find out who’s naughty and nice ”
Hoping I’m on the nice list… I want a nice Christmas present…
I’m sure they do. A bit of Google Analytics on your blog might help you find where your readers are from. What’s that, a gigantic spike at Irvine California? Hm…
Mmmm lots of hits from California… but I just put those down to envious movie stars… Nothing from Irvine…
Well, as you noticed from my blog, people that post in blue link back to us…
That site threw me for a loop at first. It’s dead on like the official forums, just all in French.
yeah, the language barrier would have added to the confusion too I’m sure
Yeah… I wonder too sometimes .. do our Gods ever step down and walk around in the community, disguised as normal players? Are they lurking around?
Honestly I think they may read some of the more wellknown blogs. Hey, the naming after Phaelia shows that if nothing else. But I wouldn’t expect them to visit PPI. Surely they monitor what media write about them, but monitoring a ton of small social media channels as blogs requires a ton of effort and I’m not sure it’s their first priority.
Are they the Avatars of Blizzard, wandering the blogsphere as mere mortals…?
Yeah, they must read them, I wonder how widespread it is, whether it’s just the media folk, or whether the CM’s and GM’s read between issue resolution.
PS
I checked out the visitors for the last month for PPI. 19 hits from Irvine, California… Mostly occasional ones, one here, one there, but 6 hits on July 2.
Hm… Could that mean….? Probably not. But it’s a fun thought to play with.
Probably does… what did you post on July 2nd?
Ohh your A flood of epics doesn’t make up for lack of content post
Probably was Blizz
