I know I bang on about it, but I want some more.
I’m messy by nature… I like to throw my clothes on the floor… the empty spaces of the floor, until there is no empty space left… then I choose another room to recarpet.
When I log on/off each Friday night, I usually only have time for a quick repair, Hi/Bye and it’s accept the summon or log off.
Every now and then I realize I am running out of space in the bank or my bags, so i do a bit of an offline inventory… work out what I can sell etc.
I like to have a couple of items per slot, with different stats, just so I can balance things out if the need arises later if I pick up something new.
I like to have a small stock of enchanting , cooking and tailoring mats… I am still leveling them, so it usually isn’t a great quantity, just enough to put together for a skill up once I get enough.
Backup supplies… maybe one or two stacks, of raiding consumables and those odds and sodds like fishing enhancers.
Quest items… too many quest items… waiting for the day I can go and collect the additional 20 rabbit ears.
But then there are those other items… the ones that I went t some trouble to collect that still give some perverse sense of pleasure to this silly Gnome. The “summon your own ArchMage” Archmage Vargoth’s Staff, the I still like to ride flaming arrows Icehammer’s Harpoon Controller and of course all the other items.
Take a look at this list…

What’s that? I don’t need to keep any of that stuff?
No, well maybe not, but then you don’t need to hang fluffy dice from your car mirror either and that never stopped you!
Let me assure you this isn’t the complete list of things I don’t want to part with… I have already built up the stamina to delete some things that I would dearly love to hold on to.
These items take up around 20% of my storage space… 1 in 5 items, 56 slots I am holding onto have no real purpose except being the spur for some great memories, or maybe the opportunity for a little bit of fun.
I know the Greedy Goblin is snorting his no-name coke right now at the stupidity of me taking up perfectly good AH fodder slots with things I just can’t part with.
The worst part is, some of these trash items are bags… I am losing bag slots to bags?!?
Let me put my skills to work
I want a retirement slot… somewhere to put this stuff so it is available… think of it like a term deposit slot, I can only withdraw an item once every 3 months… and at a cost… I will pay 50g to be able to take my flaming arrow for a spin.
Let me create a special tailoring item.. the vacuum sealed back of archiving. Let it have 100 slots. make it so 3 characters have to click on the “summoning” portal to help stuff it all in… I don’t care…. Just don’t make me throw this stuff away…
You never know… I might need it one day…
But wait.. there’s more…
OK, make that 57 slots filled with useless junk that I want to keep.
It looks nice, but my Walrus stick has the same fishing bonus plus water breathing… Hopefully I can DE it…

omg, you don’t even want to know the stuff *I’m* holding onto… Syr’s bank is full and she usually only has about 5-10 free bag slots on her at a given time…
My collection keeps growing.
The non-soulbound items often circulate around my toons in the mail and for other “temporary” storage.
By the collection of Syr’s soulbound items are growing….
I don’t want to get rid of my fun hats and dresses and knick knacks (unusual compass, anyone?)… or my steamy romance novels.
What’s a girl to do?!
I just picked up my compass…
Used it.. went… err is that all it does… what can I throw out of my bank to keep this… don’t think I need that T8 token (lol Like I’d have one of those)
Are you aware that Icehammer’s Harpoon Controller can be put in t your keyring (which, thankfully, has no size limit), aint’s you? Just to help you recover a bank slot ;).
Ahh you know, the offline interface doesn’t discriminate between keyring and bags… so it may actually be in my keyring… must look next time I am online
THIS is a mystery. How come that you and me are sharing inventory? We’re not on the same server, not even on the same side of the ocean barrier? I think I have about 75 percent of the crap items you have. Not the ZF mallet, but most of the other stuff. And yeah, I find it a hard time to delete them. One day I’ll get so frustrated though that I’ll probably go berserk and just trash it.
I begin to wonder…
Maybe we aren’t having regular mind reading episodes…
maybe we are mirror images in alternate realities…
Me Male, you female…
Me green hair, you pink…
You /win raider, me /fail raider…
Shared inventory…
There is too much evidence to ignore…
I have no idea what you’re talking about. That stuff is absolutely *essential*. How can you be a proper gentleman gnome without a purple dinner suit and a white tuxedo shirt?
It’s been a while since anyone called me a gentleman gnome…
Of course the special occasions are always marred by my lack of pants…
Well, there’s that old orcish proverb: pants in the bank, never on the legs.
Or is that “Pants on head”?
boy, this post strikes home for me. i have so many things i can’t get rid of:
my hammer of Zul’Farrak (one of my first instance runs with my first guild… that place scared the bejeezus out of me, lol)
other random items i’m keeping for various reasons, like the coins from ZG…. some day i WILL have exalted status with the Zandalar tribe and get their epic set… and there had *better* be an achievement for that!
speaking of epic clothes, my Spellfire set: i started to make it around dinging 70, and kept working on it until it was done. the stuff is VERY outdated, but the fact that it took a million motes and primals and i made it and probably will never make another set means i gotta keep it. i’m keeping it as a halloween costume. : D
my baby blizzard bear email. (still my favorite non-combat pet)
many many different holiday outfits and random other clothes for occasions (tux, wedding dress – you never know – kilt, monocle, hats)… when will blizz give us a closet space??
a jillion different enchanting mats – can’t chuck them until i know they aren’t useful…
various other holiday-related items (mugs, mats, etc etc)
yes, i have a bank alt, but it just seems like such a hassle to ship stuff off to him and then have to log in on him to go get it back… i wish we could at least wrap stuff together in a package and keep it that way. (wait – CAN we? i’ve never tried… must try that tonight…)
If only this stuff was at least Bind to Account…
I would more than happily run an Alt to IF, buy bags and all the bank slots, if only I could send that BoP stuff to them for storage…
Everyone wants a walk in robe these days…
Full Tier 1 set, full Tier 2 set, 4 of the 5 pieces of the Tier 2.5 set, the full Tier 5 set, the full tier 6 set, the full Tier 7 set, a complete “3 Amigos” Don Carlos gear set, full Brewfest Regalia, every Festive dress there is, lovely purple dress, lovely blue dress, lovely black dress….I’m a compulsive clothes hoarder. I’ve got 20 slot bags in the bank full of nothing but clothes and old quest items and I just can’t bring myself to get rid of them. I feel your pain.
Ohh PewPew… that’s a classy collection… Blizzard needs to step up and fix this, that’s practically a museum!
I’m not that big a collector, but I still end up with a full bank. I used to collect trinkets, but I ended up vendoring them in the end.
I have my own bank guild just for this. now I just need more money, so I can pay for the tabs. If you don’t have a bank guild yourself, then I’d suggest making one. It’s pretty easy to do, if you have a few gold to spare, or 9 helpful friends.
I have a guild bank on one of my alts… a hand me down, but still 99% mine to use (the couple of friends that have access would be welcome to anything there).
The problem is that as a member of a real guild, I don’t get access to my alt-guild-bank.
I could throw some stuff in there, but it’s still the BoP’s that are the issue
[…] come to ever thinking maybe it’d be okay to think about rolling up a gnome. I really liked this post about bagspace and hoarding, and the silly items you keep simply because they’re a […]
/sigh… I still have every intention of completing both my Defias and Scarlet Crusade sets on my 80 hunter (just cos they look so sexy on a girl troll, even with the no boots injustice), so how can I dump what I have so far? And that Defias chestpiece took so long to get on my baby rogue that she may have to wear it to 80…
