Today’s contributions to my Blogday are all presents describing the influence, or Gnomefluence I have had on my readers.  My original request was:

No not Effluence!

OK, that’s two easy ones out of the way, an increase in difficulty now.

How have I influenced your WoW (or hell, Real) life?

Nothing too personal thanks, and nothing too long.. 30-ish words or less, what has Gnomeaggedon done for you in the last 12 months?

Jong tells me that I have “single-handedly changed my perception about male gnomes”, in a good way I think…

What about you?

Larisa says:

You have given me countless giggles and helped me keep up my blogging spirit for a year.  And you’re also a natural spokesman for the gnomish mage community. You may be small in size but great in effort and effect (more…)

Achievement number gnome v. Achievement number

One of many envies, but one I have felt recently and, as is often the case with envy, for no good reason.

Achievement Envy

My recent envy attack was based on Larisa’s comment. Yes I am envious of Larisa, in more ways than one. But, this is about achievements, in the1st instance, so let’s start there.

I am an achievement addict, and I need help.

If I am honest with myself, when I read/hear about someone else picking up an achievement, I shrivel a little inside (more…)

I wanted to know who you are and see you in game.

Thus I asked for you to grab a screenshot along the lines of:

  • Shows you in game doing something you love.
  • Shows you in game giving me a shout out.
  • Shows you in game NEXT TO ME on Aman’Thul.
  • Shows you in game next to a Gnomeaggedon impersonator
  • You don’t have to be a Mage or a Gnome, but bonus points for Mage &/Gnome

The ” if you are looking for lurv from another one of me readers… Your phone number (not recommended, but hey, your life, your choice)” bit was ignored… so I assume that means you are happy.. or not wanting a ton of emails and phone calls from complete strangers whose only connection with you is seeing a screenshot here… can’t blameyou really.

I will leave the screenshots to do the talking… (more…)

Rip asks:

Q) Given a choice between being a zombie in the next George Romero film, a soldier in the next Michael Bay film, or a pirate in the next Pirates movie, which would you pick and why?

And if you have no idea what that means, go with this (next) one instead:

A) OK, I admit it… I have no idea.  Need to spend some more time watching movies…

Q) Which would you rather see in a movie? Undead getting dispatched with great dispatch, buildings getting dispatched with great dispatch, or seagoing wooden structures getting dispatched with great dispatch? (more…)

Hey Folks,

I know I was a little negative yesterday about the Bonfire reset, but in reality that has worked out very nicely for me… it means that I have been able to clear up the Midsummer Festival in just over one day without relying on dailies…

I know I should be doing another blogday post… but that will have to wait, as I am at home looking after the young Gnome…

Anyway, when I started this midsummer jaunt, I was relying upon the great strategies of other bloggers… then at one point when I was struggling to find a bon fire, I hit WoWHead and discovered TomTom settings…  Most of them were all over the place, so I started compiling them, only to find one post with most of them…

Anyway, reproduced here for your lack of searching pleasure, the Tom Tom coordinate commands for the Mid Summer Bonfires.  Note, for a nice path to Alliance success, check out this blog post at Pookies Is Not A Bear.

Just paste each line into your chat window, or create a Macro and throw each block in (more…)

Midsummer Festival /fail

Geeez… I seem to have a bit of a Fail theme going on at the moment.

Anyway, the good news is that Blizzard fixed all those problems you folk have been experiencing if you did the Midsummer Festival activities last year…

With the added bonus that the bon fires have been reset, and you can do them again!

From Spooncraft:

Hey congratulations folks who did the Midsummer stuff last year and have felt screwed this year. Blizzard has applied a little fix on the servers that reset the quests so players regain access to all those blossoms. You need something like 400 of them to purchase all the gear required for the hot pole dance meta.

We are in the process of applying an in-game fix that will restart all of the quests associated with the Midsummer Fire Festival event and allow players to complete them once again. If you are in the process of completing an achievement such as Extinguishing Kalimdor, this fix will reset your progress and you will need start over. This fix will require realms to be restarted.

So where’s the fail in that? (more…)

Blogday memory /fail

Just for the record my 1st Blogday is on the 26th 23rd 26th 23rd 26th ok, it really is the 23rd, or I should say, was because yesterday was the 23rd.

Now in my defense:

  • I thought I wrote 3 posts before I made the blog public, but no. /memoryfail
  • My wife will tell you I would forget my own name if it wasn’t tattooed on my forehead (in mirror so I get reminded every morning… Which I forgot to do). On the rare occasion I do remember something correctly and she doesn’t, we don’t go with my memory because there is less chance of me being right than the RNG giving a Artifact in a world drop. /memoryfail
  • I don’t even remember my own birthday.  Every birthday party is a surprise party, even when I organize it myself (assuming I remember to do that… which I don’t) /memoryfail
  • I checked my stats page and it said June 26. That of course was the number of visits I had in my 1st 7 days. /comprehensionfail

The Dilemma

So now I am faced with a dilemma.
Do I:

  • Stick with my original posting schedule, which sort of starts on Friday (but with no opening of gifts until Monday), or
  • Post the raw responses without any contribution of my own, or
  • Leak some starting from today?

The sensible option is 1). Screw you and take my time. Option 2) may work for some of the contributions, but definitely not all, and I am awaiting one late arrival. Option 3) is totally out of the question, except that, umm, I am only a squishy Mage, and a short one at that, and when you get pm’d by the most awesome fear inspiring Retadin in the whole of the World of Warcraft, well something has to give (apart from my bowels) (more…)

FailFest Friday

Urrrghhh…. Friday /fail

It was our Non-Naxx, Non-Old World night…

The night that we take on VoA, OS and a little bit of Naxx (OK, so I lied about it being a non-Naxx night… but what else can we do?)

I put in a special request with my mates that we take on CoT Culling of Stratholme, for purely selfish reasons.  I couldn’t bare the thought that a fellow blogger might have a Bronze Drake while I didn’t.  Can’t have a Troll one-upping a Gnome now can we? They agreed, but it was going to be tight, so I made sure I was on early, ready and waiting…

Cookery Failery

Waiting… yeah, what to do while waiting… Cooking Achievements!

I had placed some pre-orders at the AH, so I grabbed nearly everything I would need from the mailbox, and got to it…

Captain Rumsey

I had been gloating to Prelimar about how I had the recipe, so it was 1st cab off the rank. (more…)

Technical issues

Posted by Larísa
If you can read this post you’re not the one I’m trying to reach. Does this sound cryptic?

The thing is that it seems as if my old domain address http://pinkpigtailinn.blogspot.com doesn’t work. It used to redirect visitors to www.pinkpigtailinn.com, but not so any longer. I don’t know if this is a temporary issue or a permanent change of things. And no matter what it is – I have no idea what to do about it. So I just want to get out the word: please change your bookmarks and links to PPI to the new domain address, or my voice will be lost in the eternal sea of Internet.

But how could I get in touch with the ones who need to know it and tell them that their virtual pub hasn’t closed, just moved? I have no idea.

Proper posts are incoming later this week. Don’t lose hope!

Cheers from your innkeeper

Murloc Mondays

Ever have Murloc Mondays?

The one’s where you crawl out of bed with a guttural thwirl…

  • You spill the coffee
  • You burn the toast.
  • You forget to shave, or do your hair.
  • Your zipper is undone
  • Maybe you walk out the door and realize you still have your PJ’s on.

Maybe you walk out the door in your PJs and as the door slams you realize to don’t have your house keys on you (this happened to me once… I had to get a guy to being my spare key from work while I shivered on the side of the road… But then I wasn’t going to work that day, this the PJs.

I woke one morning recently, said Hi to Twitter, and was greeted by Strumpet101 with a

good morning sunshine

I responded Murloc style (more…)
